James Robert Phillips

Hi! My name is Rob Phillips the CEO and Founder of ABOVE. My formal education includes a undergraduate degree from Johnson University in Counseling, and graduate degree from Webster University in Mental Health. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. During my 20 year career in the field of mental health I have held many roles, therapist, clinical supervisor, director, and executive.

In the middle of 2020 I made the decision to start work on ABOVE. I have enjoyed in the course my career awards for service excellence, leadership, community involvement, and mental health advocacy. I am lucky enough to have participated in numerous research trials, expert panels, news interviews, and podcast. These achievement, and experiences were very enjoyable, but I never found the same joy as working in therapy with my clients watching them make substantial changes to their lives

Vanessa Phillips

Hi! I am Vanessa Phillips. I am a South Florida native. I was born and raised in the Miami area and graduated from University of Miami with my Nursing Degree and received my Master’s Degree in Nursing Education at Florida Atlantic University. I have been a nurse for over 20 years and have been in executive leadership for 12 of them. I hold certifications in systematic Quality Improvement and Leadership; with national certifications in Elite Personal Training, Health and Wellness Coaching and Chronic Conditions and in Nutrition.

I have a passion for teaching others how to successfully train and lift weights, after changing my health and body well into my late 30’s. I have had multiple successes in leadership with excellent outcomes leading large teams of leaders and front line staff. I have brought employee engagement scores from below 50% to 96% sustained for multiple years under my direction. I also have had less than 3% turnover for many years. I have a passion for creating a culture of excellence and safety, where staff feels directed and cared for. I love to help others create a culture where employees and metrics thrive. I enjoy meeting people and making a connection to help make them successful.
